Please ensure that USB data cable to USB port on your computer is
unplugged; also ensure that all connection to internet must be stopped
Insert CD in to the CD-ROM. The default driver directory is E:Set up.
Double click the icon “Setup Application”
System pops up interface [choose set up language]. Select “English” and
click “OK”
System pops up interface [set up prepare], click Next to enter the
interface [select install path], click “Next”
System will pop up [install guide]. Follow the following 3 steps:
Step 1
Connect one end (USB connector) of USB serial data cable to USB port
on your computer and the other end (DB9) to the serial port of FWT set
A new window will pop up stating “Welcome to the Found New Hardware
Wizard”, click the statement “Yes, this time only” and click “Next”
Hardware wizard will find new device “TIUSB 3410”. Select “install the
software automatically (Recommended)” and click “Next”. The operating
system will install the driver automatically
While installing, a window will pop up stating that TIUSB 3410 has not
passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.
Click “Continue Anyway”
Click “Finish” to close the wizard
Step 2
Another window will pop up stating “Welcome to the Found New Hardware
Wizard”. Click the statement “Yes, this time only” and click “Next”
Hardware wizard will find another new device “TIUMP USB serial Port”.
Select “install the software automatically (Recommended)” and click
“Next”. The operating system will install the driver automatically
While installing, a window will pop up stating that TIUMP USB serial
port has not passed Windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with
Windows XP. Click “Continue Anyway”.
Click “Finish” to close the window
Step 3
In the pop up [install guide], click “Next” to install Huawei wireless
modem
While installing a window will pop up stating that Huawei wireless
modem has not passed Windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with
Windows XP. Click “Continue Anyway”
(The process will take a while)
Click “Finish” when “setup complete” window pops up
To verify modem installation select “Control Panel”, “Phone and Modem”,
“Modem”, select” HUAWEI WIRELESS MODEM, click “Properties, Diagnostics, Query
modem” if system affirms successful installation of modem follow next steps,
or else repeat all previous steps
The system will pop up the interface [New connection wizard], click
“Next”
Select “Connect to the internet” and click “Next”
Select “Set up my connection manually” and click “Next”
Select “Connect using a dial up modem” and click “Next”
Select “HUAWEI WIRELESS MODEM” and click “Next”
The system will pop up [connection name], enter name V PTCL and click
“Next”
The system will pop up [Phone number to dial]. Enter #777 and click
“Next”
Enter “User Name” and “Password” and click “Next”
User Name: vwireless@ptcl.com small letters
Password: ptcl
Click “Add a short cut to this connection to my desktop” and click
“Finish” Start Connection
Go to START, CONNECT TO, and SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS, Double click “V
PTCL”
Enter User Name and Password. Click “Dial”
Once you get connected, status of your connection, V PTCL displays
connected
HUAWEI FWT

After “TIUSB3410” driver installation the system will automatically find
another new device “TIUMP USB Serial Port” and install its driver
In the pop up [install guide], click “Next” to start to install “HUAWEI
WIRELESS MODEM”
Another pop up will appear showing [Digital signature not found], click
“Yes” to continue the installation
System prompts that “Setup Program has installed HUAWEI WIRELESS MODEM on
your computer successfully”. Click “Finish” to complete the installation
After the driver installation the system will add “HUAWEI WIRELESS MODEM”
in [Control Panel/Modems]
To verify modem installation select “Control Panel”, “Phone and Modem”,
“Modem”, select” HUAWEI WIRELESS MODEM”, click “Properties, Diagnostics, Query
modem” if system affirms successful installation of modem follow next steps,
or else repeat all previous steps
Add Network Connection
Click START, PROGRAM, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATION, INTERNET CONNECTION
WIZARD
System will pop up interface [Welcome to the internet connection wizard]
Check “I WANT TO SET UP MY INTERNET CONNECTION MANUALLY OR I WANT TO
CONNECT THROUGH A LOCAL AREA NETWORK [LAN] and click “Next”
System will pop up interface [Setting up your internet connection] check
“Connect through a phone line and a modem” and click “Next”
The system will pop up interface [choose a modem] select “HUAWEI
WIRELESS MODEM” and click “Next”
System will pop up interface [internet account connection information]
write #777 in “Telephone number” and Uncheck “DIAL USING THE AREA CODE AND
COUNTRY CODE” and click “Next”
System will pop up interface [internet account log on information] Enter
“User Name” and “Password” and click “Next”.
User Name = vwireless@ptcl.com small letters
Password = ptcl
System will pop up interface [Configuring your computer] Enter “V PTCL”
in connection name.
System will pop up interface [set up your internet mail account] select
“No” to “DO YOU WANT TO SET UP AN INTERNET MAIL ACCOUNT” and click “Next”
. Check the box “Connect to internet immediately” and click “Finish”
Enter password and click “Connect”
To create a short cut click START, PROGRAM, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATION,
NETWORK AND DIAL UP NETWORKING
Right click V PTCL and create short cut to desktop
To start connection double click short cut on the desktop. Once you get

In the pop up [install guide], click “Next” to start to install “HUAWEI
WIRELESS MODEM”
System prompts that “Setup Program has installed HUAWEI WIRELESS MODEM on
your computer successfully”. Click “Finish”
After driver installation, System will add HUAWEI WIRELESS MODEM in
[Control Panel/Modems] OR IN LIEU SYSTEM MAY ASK TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
Once you connect USB serial data cable to the USB port on your computer
and the other end (DB9) to the serial port on the terminal, system may
prompt the message “UMP3410 serial port not found” and pops up the interface
[install guide]
Click “Next” and system will automatically install UMP 3410 serial port
and UMP 3410 unitary driver
System will pop up interface [set up complete] and will flash the
message “Congratulation set up program has installed Huawei modem on your
computer successfully” Click “Finish” and click “Next”
After the driver installation the system will add “HUAWEI WIRELESS
MODEM” in [Control Panel/Modems]
Add Network Connection
Click START, PROGRAM, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATION, INTERNET CONNECTION
WIZARD

System will pop up an interface [Welcome to the internet connection
